To make you feel as if you had wings, to greet the birds in passing and to admire the breathtaking scenery, what better idea than to board a hot-air balloon?
Feel like a breath of air? Immediate take-off at Château-d’Oex, weather permitting! The adventure starts with inflating the balloon - and you’re off: an indescribable moment of pleasure when the Earth grows smaller and smaller and when a magnificent 360° panoramic view unfolds before your eyes. At the end of your flight you will receive a flight certificate and share a glass of wine.
Château-d’Oex went down in history when Bertrand Piccard and Brian Jones achieved their first flight around the world in a hot-air balloon in 1999. A victory for this resort in Pays-d’Enhaut, which has been organising the Hot-Air Balloon Festival for over thirty years.
Espace Ballon, located near the take-off area, unravels all the secrets of Château-d’Oex’s love for the hot-air balloon. A permanent exhibition on the upper floor lets visitors immerse themselves in the universe of hot-air ballooning. This exhibition presents hot-air balloons from every angle: from how they are operated to the Breitling Orbiter III flown by Piccard and Jones, as well as in 3D films.

The "Breitling Orbiter Challenge" interactive discovery trail invites all hot-air balloon fans to a virtual experience of the extraordinary flight around the world achieved by the adventurers Bertrand Piccard and Brian Jones.
